Social Hour Update

Hi All!!

We wanted to give an update on our Social Hour program & what’s been going on recently. You may have noticed we haven’t posted a new Social Hour in a bit & we wanted to explain why that is.

Social Hour is a program that was developed to not only give pups respite from the shelter, but to help give future adopters more information about the pup prior to adoption. Providing as much information about the pup as possible really decreases the chance of the pup being returned after adoption - which is what our mission is all about. We’ve partnered with Paws & Claws Humane Society to bring shelter pups over to Companion Acres (a local doggy daycare & boarding facility) for Social Hour & have had great success in providing enough information to keep the pups in their forever homes.

Because we are working with shelter dogs AND dogs at daycare/boarding, we have to be extremely careful in keeping all parties healthy. If you follow rescue in Rochester, you may have noticed a serious increase in dogs entering the shelters. The rescue community is in a great deal of need and they work tirelessly to give as many pups shelter as they can. With that being said, the shelter is taking pups from all situations & with that can come different strains of illness. With the influx of pups comes the influx of different illnesses and therefore, we haven’t been able to bring over pups for Social Hour. It’s been hard to not have the weekly program going, but rest assured we have been busy helping in other ways.

So, please know it is a program we will continue to do, but the health & safety of all the pups will always come first <3
